Piano tuning in Sandy
In-home tuning throughout Sandy, from Historic Sandy to the east bench, by a certified technician and working musician.
Most of Sandy was built out between the 1970s and the 1990s, which makes it full of the kind of family homes where a piano gets bought second-hand when a child starts lessons. Those pianos are often perfectly good instruments that simply have not been serviced since they changed hands.
A used piano that has just moved into your home is worth tuning once it has settled. Give it a couple of weeks to adjust to the humidity and temperature of the room it now lives in — the move itself knocks a piano out far less than the change of environment does.
Sandy runs from the older, smaller homes around Historic Sandy up to the larger properties on the east bench, and the tuning is the same job at both ends. The price is the same too: one rate, published, with the pitch raise included rather than discovered at the end.
Care that helps every piano reach its potential.
Piano Tuning
Summer special. Includes a pitch raise if needed, plus minor repairs like sticking keys and squeaky pedals.
Cleaning
Vacuuming inside the piano and under the keys. A small travel fee applies if booked without a tuning.
30-Min Concert
A short live performance on your freshly tuned piano — when added to a tuning appointment.
A standard tuning runs just over an hour. Pianos untuned for 2–3 years may need a pitch raise, which adds 30–45 minutes. Cleaning without a tuning includes a small travel fee depending on your area.
No surprises at the end of the appointment.
One published price
$160 for a standard tuning, down from $200. That is the price you pay, and it is on this page rather than behind a quote form.
Pitch raise included
If your piano has dropped flat and needs stretching back up before a fine tuning will hold, that is part of the appointment, not an extra line on the bill.
Small repairs included
Sticking keys and squeaky pedals get sorted while I am there. They are the sort of thing that should not need its own invoice.
No call-out fee
Travel is included anywhere in the service area when you book a tuning. A $60 cleaning on its own carries a small travel fee — that is the only exception.

Book a tuning →We just bought a used piano. Does it need tuning straight away?
Give it about two weeks in your home first. A piano adjusts to the humidity and temperature of its new room, and tuning before it has settled means tuning it twice. If you are unsure whether the piano was a good buy, I am happy to tell you what I find.
How often should a family piano be tuned?
Once a year suits most homes. If a child is practising daily and the piano is getting more than an hour of playing a day, every six months holds it much better.
How often should my piano be tuned?
Yearly works great for most homes. Every six months is better when a piano gets more than an hour of playing time daily.
Why does my piano go out of tune?
Each string carries about 160 pounds of tension, and there are over 200 strings. That pressure gradually slips the tuning pins. Temperature swings also expand and contract the wood, adding pressure and shifting pitch.
What's a pitch raise?
When a piano has dropped very flat, its strings need to be stretched back up close to standard pitch before a fine tuning can hold. That’s a pitch raise.
How long does an appointment take?
Just over an hour for a regularly tuned piano. If it’s been more than 2–3 years, it may need a pitch raise, which adds 30–45 minutes.

We've had Cameron in our home for the last couple of years to tune our baby grand. He plays beautifully and does a fantastic job with tuning. He has a great ear and his fees make having tuning done more often affordable. We were having problems with the pedals and he was able to take things apart and get them fixed quickly and they work better than before. I can always tell a difference after the tuning has been done. I highly recommend Cameron for any piano tuning.
Cameron has tuned our piano twice. He is very affordable and our piano sounds great! He is prompt. I love listening to him play our piano after he completes the tuning to make sure he is complete. I would highly recommend Cameron to tune your piano.
We had our piano tuned by someone else but some notes just werent keeping their tune. Cameron came and tuned our piano and it has sounded amazing ever since. We've referred him to family members looking to tune their pianos because he did such a great job!
